About Metropolregion Rheinland
Based on the belief that many challenges can be faced better together and that the Rhineland as a whole is stronger than its individual sub-regions, the Rhenish cities, districts and chambers have joined forces to form the Rhineland Metropolitan Region (MRR). The members of the organization are as follows:
- 11 independent cities and 12 districts
- 7 chambers of industry and commerce, 3 chambers of skilled trades
- the Aachen city region and the Rhineland Regional Association (Landschaftsverband Rheinland)
Since its foundation in 2017, the MRR has set out with the aim of uniting the strengths of its members into a common voice that represents the Rhineland and provides structural policy impetus.
Voice of the Rhineland:
- Developing and establishing the MRR as a representative of structural policy interests at EU, federal and state level
- Sharpening the profile of the Rhineland area
- Positioning the region internally and externally
Structural policy compensates for spatial and sectoral imbalances:
- Preserve assets: Prevent migration, keep industries and companies in the region
- Shape the future: Identify promising sectors/industries and promote their development
- Support structural development: Infrastructure expansion as a locational advantage
