R-Map is a three-year Horizon project, launched in late 2023, with METREX as a project partner. It explores how remote working arrangements are reshaping urban and rural areas across Europe and whether they can help reduce territorial disparities. The project will develop an Integrated Impact Assessment Framework and a visualisation platform to help decision-makers assess the social, economic, environmental and spatial effects of remote work. These tools will be tested in six case-study areas across Europe, including cross-border regions. Through scenario-building, forecasting and policy exchange, R-Map aims to provide practical recommendations for local and regional authorities to support remote work in ways that benefit both urban and rural communities.
