The ARL – Academy for Territorial Development in the Leibniz Association and our member organisation Stuttgart Region invite METREX Members to join this timely event on the regional expansion of onshore wind power under RED III.

The discussion will focus on one of the key challenges facing European regions today: how to accelerate the deployment of renewable energy while safeguarding biodiversity, environmental quality, and meaningful public participation. As Member States work to implement RED III and identify suitable areas for renewable energy development, spatial planning has a crucial role to play in balancing speed with social and environmental responsibility.

Bringing together experts and stakeholders from science, administration, and policy, the event will offer a valuable platform to exchange experiences, compare implementation approaches across countries, and reflect on current challenges and opportunities. Particular attention will be given to regional perspectives and to the experiences of Germany and the Netherlands.
