METREX Members are invited to join this online activity and bring their insights – by sharing their knowledge and experience – for the development of Guidelines for capacity-building actions to help local and regional public authorities design and implement effective interventions for digital transformation.

What is DIGIREG?

The ESPON project DIGIREG – Territorial perspectives of digital transition in European regions aims to investigate the current situation and the evolution of three types of digital divide (i.e., in terms of digital connectivity and infrastructures, digital skills and capacities and digital socio-economic outcomes) across and within European regions.

What are the guidelines for digital strategies?

A specific task of the DIGIREG project, led by Progress Consulting S.r.l., aims at creating guidelines supporting local and regional authorities to design and implement digital strategies (i.e., strategies  fostering digital transition or improving digital cohesion). Three different set of guidelines are expected to be developed by the end of the project:

#1. Guidelines for better designing and implementing digital strategies aimed at achieving the Digital Decade’s targets at the subnational level (i.e., fostering the territorial digital transition).

#2. Guidelines for better designing and implementing digital strategies aimed at bridging the territorial digital divides at the subnational level (i.e., improving the territorial digital cohesion).

#3. Guidelines to enhance the local and regional authorities’ capacities to design and implement digital strategies (i.e., both contributing to the achievement of the Digital Decade’s targets and the reduction of the digital divides in their territories).

WORKSHOP: HOW CAN METREX MEMBERS CONTRIBUTE?

As a partner of the DIGIREG project, on 13 November 2025 METREX organises the “DIGIREG workshop on guidelines for digital strategies”. The workshop calls on METREX members’ first-hand experience and knowledge to provide suggestions on the structure and content of the DIGIREG guidelines.

During the first part of the workshop, Progress Consulting S.r.l. will briefly present a proposal for the draft structure and content of the three sets of guidelines and the METREX members will be asked to provide feedback on it and suggest possible improvements.

During the second part of the workshop, METREX members will be asked to contribute raising needs and outlining challenges as public authorities when designing and implementing digital strategies.

Outcomes of the workshop will be considered for the finalisation of the three set of guidelines.
