The City of Amsterdam invites METREX members to join the conference ‘Celebrating the Future’ – Amsterdam 2100, organized in honor of the city’s 750th anniversary. During this inspiring two-day event, we will explore the future of the Amsterdam metropolis until 2100. Addressing key themes such as economics, mobility, climate change, resource scarcity, and social and cultural challenges.
Keynote speakers will present state-of-the-art insights into metropolitan research and strategies. You are invited to actively participate and share your thoughts with colleagues from the Netherlands and abroad on future regional, national and European collaboration.
Programme overview
The conference has two parts:
- Day 1: A plenary programme with keynote speakers (15 September)
- Day 2: Thematic workshops and field trips (16 September)
On the second day, the morning will start with field trips to prepare for the thematic working sessions, including:
W 1: Spatial-economic strategies [by invitation only]
W 2: Beyond Circular Economy – Towards 2100
W 3: Mobility Transition
W 4: The Human Metropolis
W 5: Climate and Water
W 6: Spatial Planning and Governance
